3D printing in primary and secondary education and innovative applications and key software technology development

Project brief

Made by driven by 3D printing technology and sports, have recently become a trend, countries have to invest resources, hoped that in the future development of this trend in the leading position. 3D printing technology is fascinating, is that it will be customized manufacturing technology threshold and significant cost reductions, making the spirit of innovation and creativity to expand freely, meets most people's curiosity to explore the nature, the achievements of the designer's practice.

As a tool for education and learning, 3D printing has its fascinating, but there are several issues that must be addressed, especially when extended to primary and secondary education, in part of the development tools and processes developed, should target the user's characteristics, rigorous simulation and validation in order to provide appropriate solutions. This plan through interdisciplinary cooperation in information technology and science team, with innovative software technology and computer graphics, computer vision, development of 3D with intuitive interface integrated manufacturing software, learning gateway, easy to learn, easy to use, easy to target. Specifically, the program develops software that will provide 3D virtual scanning, modeling, intuitive intuitive editing, model search, work sharing, bonuses, customized with the finished print and other functions, and development and model lesson plans, as a reference for teachers into teaching design guidelines.

The software tools developed in the project and system platform, will provide free Taiwan primary and secondary schools, education software and utility of evaluation and analysis of the user experience, according to feedback improve human-machine interfaces and functionality of the software, so that development of the results will be widely used, to nurture our 3D printing people working in China, back to their roots, to lay a good foundation.
